Tim Norton is an American realist with a subtle twist. His paintings speak of an energy that lies just beyond the visible. Schooled in plein air and patient practice, Tim looks to the land and its animals for inspiration. Living in Southern Idaho he has often been inspired by high desert landscape. Moved by the strength of a small bird in harsh, changing weather, or the way light will bounce between the clouds and the base of the juniper dotted mountains. He produces his artwork as a form of questioning and celebration.
Tim has been drawing and painting ever since he can remember. Many of his earliest works were done on the yellow orange cardboard that his mother brought home from the packaging of Xray film. He was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho and has spent much of his time hiking and ex- ploring the mountainous area. He attended Idaho State University and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1982. In 1983 he received his Certification in Secondary Education. Tim now teaches Art at Marsh Valley High School in Arimo, Idaho. He lives with his wife Vicki and visits both his sons Jake and Zach whenever possible.
