Laurie Penrod was born and raised in southern Idaho and always loved to draw, she took art classes in junior high and high school and studied at Ricks College ( now BYU Idaho) and also took classes from CSI. She has always loved nature and being out in the mountains or dessert photographing animals, flowers, old barns and landscapes to use for paintings or drawings later. She loves traveling and seeing the beauty of this planet everywhere.
Her artwork tries to capture the light and joy in live that is often missed or passed over, trying to say ,look at this there is beauty here. She tries seeing things from a different point of view and draw it that way.
She started doing commissioned portraits a few years ago because a friend who ran a gallery told her that is a real strength and she has donated some portraits to the American Heart Association's Heart Ball Auction in Boise.
She just started watercolor this year and really enjoys it. She currently lives in the mountains of Idaho with her husband and daughter and many animals.
